2011 Christmas Party a Success
The Club Christmas party was held at The Roadside Inn near Plymouth on December 3 this year. The food was yummy and we had a good turn out with over 40 people attending. Members contributed over 50 items for auction. Of course the auction is the club’s biggest money maker and this year was no exception earning over $800.
If you were one of the members that contributed and that something was donated to you by a business, please let Sandy Navarre know the name of the business so we can thank them and give them some advertising on our website.
A discussion of what and where our club is going was raised on a survey circulated by the board. If there is a clinic you’d like to see the club give or if you’d like to host a meeting at your home, please contact our club president, Pat McGuire, or his wife Lori (see the membership list by logging in as a member).
The next big event, so far, is the June 2nd Open Show but be sure to check our calendar of events here where all events are listed as soon as the information is available.
Fall Fun Show
The club’s Fall Fun Show was held this past weekend. It was well attended and fun was the top of the agenda. There were 10 classes in all five for adults and five for youth. Participants outnumbered the horses so poor little Shooter, Lori Knutson’s horse, was used by several youth and at least one adult. By the end of the day he probably had worn an inch off of himself. The obstacle class was both challenging and fun. It included the horse walking over an old mattress, having a yellow raincoat over their back and a beach ball (which constantly blew away in the wind) bounced around them. The other contests were timed events and included polls, keyhole, barrels, and jumps. The High Point awards went to youth, Brooke Cooper, while the adult award went to Greg Depas.
“October 1st, 2011 During lunch time at SEWMEC Fun Show a meeting was called to order by previous president and Fun Show coordinator Rosie Curtis. We were shown a few samples of our new logo on Black with Royal Blue embroidery. Wow was that very stunning to say the least. I great THANK YOU to Lori McGuire for coming up with the new logo. The two lucky people who took overall top points at the fun show in the two divisions, Adult and Youth, were awarded duffle bags in Black & Royal Blue colors with the new logo on it, in stunning Royal Bue. Lori Knutson showed the samples of polo type shirts and a sweat shirt description that would be with a hood and front zipper. It will be black with royal blue panels on the sides for the sweatshirts and the polo shirts would be black with royal blue embroidery. Lori & Rosie will get pricing per each item plus $$ for the SEWMEC Club. This information is to follow soon with the newsletter or a separate flyer with this info. Club shows well at 2011 AMHR National ShowThe AMHR National Show, held this September in Tulsa, was a great success with around 1600 horses showing there. For those who haven’t seen or don’t know what “Nationals” is all about here are some of the details.
SEWMEC members did well
Three of our club members showed horses this year. While it was a small group, our club was well represented as they all came home with ribbons or trophies. Michele Halverson also had Adam show her mare, Lot-Sa-Fun Wonders Arabella, in halter. She also placed in the Top Ten. Sandy Navarre showed her mare, Royal Oaks Mandalay Bay, in Golden Age Jumper Under and Golden Age Country Pleasure Driving Under. She placed in the Top Ten in both classes. Sandy also drove and had Jason Prince and his family drive, Brush Creeks Magic Spell, in Park Harness Over. Magic took National Champion honors in the Youth, the Amateur, and the Stakes classes, and was Reserve Champion in the Open class. |
