High Meadow Farm – Chuck & JoAnn Spransy
Having both a camera in the barn and halter monitors, imagine my surprise when I looked out the window on March 9th, a snowy morning, and saw a foal standing in the paddock! High Meadow Grand Snoqualmie (Sno) is a very correct chestnut & white filly. Nice long legs with white socks and a sassy attitude! Her daddy is Royal Oaks Stand Me Grand, a homozygous palomino pinto, and her dam is a solid chestnut with a star, Sligo Acres Wild Irish Rose. We’re so happy that she survived and is thriving – and think calling her Sno is very appropriate considering her birth story.
Four days later we were delighted to meet High Meadow Grand Rainier, a rare buckskin pinto. He’s a tiny guy. His sire is also Stand Me Grand, and his dam is Sweet Freedoms Baylee. This is Baylee’s first foal, and after a hard delivery, it took her about 45 minutes to bond with her baby. Now she has turned into a little witch and is ready to defend her baby to the world. She spends her day letting all the horses know that they better stay away. Poor little Rainier is learning to be afraid. We are working on getting Baylee to settle down – she has always been the lowest horse on the “totem pole” and I’m sure she’s convinced that someone will steal her baby.
