Minutes from August meeting 2011

Southeast Wisconsin Miniature Equine Club

President:  Pat McGuire, called the meeting to order at Wilderness Roadside Inn, N 5575 State Hwy 57, Plymouth, WI

Members Present:   Lori & Pat McGuire, Carol Whitman, Greg & Shari Depas, Pollee Bugni, Sheryl Brusse, Rosie Curtis, Lori Knutson, Judy Yandt

Treasure Report:  Lori Knutson Check Book balance $7,414.82. Treasure report  approved - Motion 1st  by Sheryl  B. & 2nd by Pollee B.

Secretary’s Report:   Secretary was not notified of meeting, Ooops - No minutes read.

Reviewed the open show information:   A Sheet of expenses and profits were discussed.

1) Am Vets were asking for a donation of $50.00 for gas – motion declined.  1st   by Rosie Curtis, & 2nd   by Lori, vote passed.

2) Sponsor ships to be posted.

3) Our Open Show to be advertised on Manitowoc Fair Grounds Sign.

4) “Newspaper Ad” – Press Release to place show information, call Green Bay paper.

Things to do: 

1) Clean Trophies, Ribbons to be shipped yet,

2) Local feed Tri State for Purina Miniature Horse Feed to have a table set up. 

3) Insurance Coverage.

4) Rent & Clean Up.   5) Overnight water & electricity, Friday Evening.

Announcers:  Chuck Spransy & Sandy

Note:  A new Virus out and is very contagious, but not in Wisconsin yet.  Disinfect your stalls, wash feet & hands.

Reminder:   To Pre Enter, and get Sponsors…  There is Grand & Reserve Awards. (Sheri Depas)

Old Business:   Reviewed Fun Show Progress – Information will be in the newsletter,  Sept 25th or Oct 2nd.

Banquet:  Joan Spransy is in charge.  Dates will be posted possibly after Deer Hunting & before Christmas.

Awards:  For “Fun Show & Open show”.  Fun Show awards High Point Horse & Handler.

“Open Show” Show Committee:  Lori McGuire, Shari Depas, Pollee Bugni – Bring up at the Christmas party for a discussion.   1) Add or scratch should be at least 2 classes before.  2)  Post a sign-up sheet for volunteers.  3) ways to advertise the show more.  4) Obstacle course & jumping - Pat Black.

Greg D. made a motion:  Dates for the Open Show ( 1st Saturday of June) 2nd by Carol Whitman

Discussion:  Same facility, Someone else not showing bring and set up Obstacle and Jumping.

Need:  Announcer, Ring man.  Hire Office Secretary, 4H for the food group.  1 or 2 judges.

 1 Judge rated-Chuck Zacharias will do the show for us.

Fund raisers, Donations, Sponsorships, sell the cover & backs of the newsletter for income.

Need Donations for the Christmas Party Auction.

Volunteers to organize parades & participate – Judy Zant  is willing to head a committee for parades and send dates to the newsletter for participants.

Next meeting:   The Fun Show - October

FYI - Poctia Kalinka Clinic show in October or April.

“Note:  Judy Zant has cancer in one kidney and needs removed August 16th at Saint Luke’s in Milwaukee.”
